Mortons Gap / WKY Deployment
October 24 - November 3, 2024
Help us re-engage in western Kentucky still dealing with the tree damage caused by the tornadoes in late May to help the people with no resources to finish the cleanup. We have deployed there before, but there is still help that is needed. Check out the details and signup below:
Western North Carolina - Hurricane Helene Deployment (Round 2)
November 8 - November 24, 2024
Join us as we bring Help & Hope to the survivors of the devastating flash flooding that occurred from Hurricane Helene.
You’ll be doing one or more of the following:
- Interacting with survivors to offer Emotional & Spiritual Care, to make sure they feel seen, known, and loved by God.
- Doing flood remediation / muck outs on residential homes
- Helping with a saw team to pull brush & limbs
- Picking up general debris
- Repairs to survivor’s homes / general construction / drywall
- Repairing minor road / driveway access for survivors
- Delivering supplies to survivors
- Possible administrative duties
- Possible hospitality work at the base camp location for volunteers (check in/check out, cooking, etc.)
Times will be 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. every day.
Where: Avery County, NC specifically the towns of Elk Park, Newland, Linville, etc.
What to bring: More details will be provided in the email communications once you sign up.
- Housing will be “indoor car camping” style in a YMCA facility (gym, meeting rooms, etc) utilizing your own air mattress or cot and sleeping bag
- All meals will be provided
- Showers and bathrooms are available at the site
- Closed toe shoes/boots, eye & ear protection, gloves, face masks, work clothes that you don’t mind getting muddy and dirty, general construction tools, pillows, toiletries, shower towel and wash cloth, camp chair, etc.
